What a Welcome!!
  10 / 10
I recently visited this pub recently on a Friday afternoon and received the best welcome I had ever received!! The bar maid was a delight!! The 'locals' or 'regulars' as they were known, were friendly and welcomed me on their 'long table' with no questions asked!! The drinks were well priced being £2.20 per pint for Carlsberg, Strongbow and Tetley's being a steal on the High street!! As for the review below they informed me that they had stopped serving food approx 1 year ago not due to lack of cleanliness but because of the owners sudden ill health although when i did question the bar maid about the food a lot of the punters began to ask the bar maid when they were starting the food again...seeing that there is a strong demand for their food and I heard only compliments!! As the evening turned to night I saw a strong crowd in the pub with good music with a mix of old and new songs to suit everyone's taste and the 'regulars' staying late into the night!! When i revisit Blackwood I will be sure to return!! Top marks from myself!!

Avoid

a place for chavs! rough in the nights and full of the unemployed spending their dole in the day. Windows often get smashed on the weekends. Eat in here at your peril! not the cleanest of places.

FANTASTIC!
  10 / 10
I visited the Coed Duon as a newcomer as I was in the area visiting family. The barmaid (Jade) absolutely second to none! What a star. I decided to come back for a weekend shuffle on the Saturday night. Oh what a night! excellent music & although it could take a while to get served due to the volume of people draught guiness was worth waiting for. how the staff cope with the number of people is beyond me - and still with a smile!A fabulous night. Last comment goes to the amazing Sunday lunch. Looked like a different place on a Sunday from a thumping Saturday nightclub to a warm relaxing eatery all in less than twelve hours! Succulent meat loads of fresh veg & the most fabulous gravy ever. Can't wait for another invite from my family. Thanks for a great weekend & a great welcome! Hi to Jade, Sharon & Jason

Too Small
  6 / 10
Formerly known as 'The George', Y Coed Duon is currently one of the most popular pubs that Blackwood's High Street has to offer.

A clean looking pub, Y Coed Duon offers a relatively safe social experience and a hugely popular weekend disco that is frequented by mostly 30/40 somethings in search of another chance. The week clientele is what you'd expect to see in most pubs in terms of volume and social types. Choice and quality of beers, lagers and wines is the same as that of the majority of pubs.

The only real criticism I have of Y Coed Duon is that it is far too small to handle the volume of it's weekend clientele. If you are looking for a social night as a group, you will likely find yourself stood among a rugby scrum of drinkers shouting your conversation all night. If you are out looking to meet a companion, then Y Coed Duon may be worth a visit.
