Fantastic food!!! A must try.
8 / 10
Recently taken over by Anthony Pool, owner of The Half Moon in Grendon, The Cuckoo was a dreary pub with dreary and quite inedible food. Not any more. The food here is superb...and I mean SUPERB!! With a full Italian menu running all week and an unbeleivably good roast on Sundays, this is a must visit pub. Anthony has invested in the decor a little, removing the old pool table, dartboard and jukebox and has turned the room into a nice modern seating area. The pub just needs a few more clientelle to fully realise itself. The chef is the pubs ace in the hole. He is Italian and produced the most exquisite italian food, all very fresh and reasonably priced. They are currently offering free starter or dessert with every main course, so it is even better value. The choice of fresh pasta dishes is fantastic, they do proper, not Pizza Hut style, pizza's, all dough is frshly made daily and boy, can you taste it. This pub needs two sets of stars...one for the food which is a definite 10/10, the other for the pub which could get there, if only more people come!!
