About
Shimla Cottage is a family owned and run Indian restaurant in the town of Coatbridge, part of the greater Glasgow area. Only 10 miles east of the Glasgow city centre, Shimla Cottage is loved by Coatbridge locals and has a cosy, traditional dining room that is the perfect place to tuck into all of your favourite Indian dishes. The staff pride themselves on their authentic home-style Indian cooking, and the menu is filled with old classics alongside Pakistani and Bangladeshi favourites. With its cherry red walls, colourful carpets and crisp white tablecloths, the dining room is spacious and welcoming, and is a perfect place for family meals, tables for two or a night out with friends or colleagues. Portions are generous, and the prices here are more affordable than restaurants in central Glasgow. No one will leave here hungry, and the Shimla Cottage is a must for all North Lanarkshire curry lovers. (from toptable.co.uk)

The food in Shimla Cottage is always cooked to your liking and the several choices of set meals, pre theatre, banquet or a la carte is there for those with limited budgets, I have dined in the Shimla on and off for several years and the staff could not be more friendly or helpful in terms of giving advice on menu choices. I would recommend this as a venue for a cosy meal for two or a place to celebrate with a crowd as I have been lucky to fall into both those categories and have enjoyed my experience on every visits. Keep up the good work Shimla!!!!
I have been to many a buffet and ala carte and I think its pretty evident when food is either overdone or not cooked and squirming in sauce. This place in my opinion should have its shutters rolled down and some staff training wouldnt go a miss. the customer is supposed to feel welcomed when they go out and spend their hard earned money not have a team of trainees including the manager throwing visual daggers as a polite attempt is made to eat the inedible food and sip the yeasty beer.
overpriced and very poor quality in my opinion attempting to pass itself of as an authentic indian restaurant.
Maybe there is still hope when the management finally differentiates its ass from its elbow.
