Great Find!
Visited the George last night for a bite to eat as had heard it was under new ownership and now looked great from outside with the refurb. We certainly weren't disappointed. The staff were really friendly and helpful and we were made to feel at ease straight away. I had a beef fahita salad which was enormous and excellent value for money and my partner had a good old fashioned suet crusted beef pie which was great as well. Being a frequent visitor of most of the pubs in the area, the George is certainly one of the best value for money and a lovely old pub with a big garden bordering on the River Beult. We will certainly be going again. My rating is 9 out of 10.

Refurbished, and looking lovely
  9 / 10
The George has really come into its own over the last couple of years. The cellar is much improved, with two real ales always on tap, generally adnams and a guest beer which changes a couple of times a week. It's a free house, so the owner gets in any beer the locals might like.

The restaurant closed recently, it has been refurbished and the whole place has had a makeover. No food at the moment but should be opening again soon.

Visit at your own risk
  1 / 10
I was one of a group who visited this pub at approx. 1.00pm on Sunday 2nd March 2008 and on entering the car park one member of our group was attacked and bitten by the publican's alsation dog which was loose in the grounds. Initially the publican appeared to be unconcerned by this and attempted to defend the actions of the dog. At this point a grossly overweight and foul mouthed aggressive lout began shouting obscenities at us and asserting that it was all our fault for arriving unannounced. We pointed out that this was an area to which the public had access and as such the dog should have been under proper control. The yob then said that the dog was 'only doing his job'. If this is the case then it follows that the dog has been trained to attack customers. One member of our group made it known to the yob that he is a pub landlord with two dogs but they did not attack and injure his customers to which the ill bred oick shouted back " you've got the wrong sort of f*ck*ng dogs then". This appalling pub is a blot on an otherwise charming and very attractive village. Visit it at your own risk.
