Perfect Day, thanks :)
  10 / 10
Had our wedding here August 2008 (both the ceremony and the reception along with an evening buffet/disco) In the lead up to the big day the staff and managers were always happy to arrange a meeting to discuss the big day and plans, one manager even going so far as to contact us when she was off duty just to make sure everything was how we wanted

The food and level of service was brilliant, rooms were clean, comfortable and well decorated.

wouldn't hesitate in the sligthest to recomend this hotel to anyone

Extremely poor
  1 / 10
We stayed here for 1 night in January. When we came to pay they charged us more than was advertised on their own website. We were supposed to get an early breakfast from the night porter who left us sat in an unlit breakfast room with no milk, juice or hot drink. When we found him 20 minutes later he was rude to us. A complaint to the Management was not responded to until after further emails and telephone calls. They whitewashed the whole episode and have not further responded to my follow up. A very bad hotel.

extremely poor ser4vice and overcharging
  1 / 10
We stayed at the hotel for one night only on the 17th January prior to catching an early morning tunnel crossing to France. It was therefore important that we were able to obtain an early breakfast. Although we researched and sourced the hotel on the internet this particular point was not covered. I therefore telephoned the Hotel to check on this and was told that the night porter would be able to provide us with breakfast. They also offered to take our booking over the telephone which I subsequently did. At no stage did they advise me of the price and I therefore assumed that the prices were as published on their own website. They did also get the credit card debit wrong but as this was only for £1 I did not quibble over this.

We came down to breakfast the next morning at 6 am and were greeted by the Night porter who saw us go into the breakfast room. The room was virtually in darkness and although cereals etc were set out there was no milk, coffee. or fruit juice. As the night porter had acknowledged our presence, and as he had seen us go into the breakfast room it was not unreasonable to assume that he would very soon ask us what we required. He had in fact disappeared (I assume to perform other duties) and when I tracked him down and asked him why we had been left in the dark etc. He said we ?could do what we liked?. As we had to get away I did not pursue my complaint about the night porter and the overcharging but did email the hotel with my complaint on my return home.

The complaint was acknowledged and we were told that a full reply would be sent very soon. It was only after several emails and a telephone call that we received a response. We were told that the rates published on their own website were Internet rates. This was not and still is not clear from their website and does not deal with the issue of why we were not advised of this when we telephoned.

As regards the night porter the response was that he did not appreciate that we wanted breakfast. The fact that he saw us going into the breakfast room early in the morning was apparently not a sufficient indication for him. In any event in a properly customer focused organisation he should have been asking us how he could help us, rather than me chasing him round the hotel trying to get his attention.

Despite the fact that we were charged over the advertised rate, despite the fact that we did not get any breakfast the only concession made by the hotel was to refund the £1 resulting from their mix up over the credit card.

I did go back to them to pursue my complaint and this time they have not even had the courtesy to acknowledge my complaint and have still failed to respond despite several emails.

Surely there should be some way of pursuing this complaint further and surely they are guilty of misleading the public if they advertise one rate and charge another. At the very least they guilty of very poor service in the first place and even more guilty of not dealing with complaints in a reasonable and speedy fashion.
