Great food
  10 / 10
Me and my husband was recommended this pub by our friends and we was not disappointed at all..we arrived Friday afternoon with no booking made, and was greeted with a very warm welcome..Once we had ordered our meal we waited only 20mins,to receive soom great, warm and very fresh food...not long after we was asked both by the staff and the chief if everything was okay...we thought this was a great gesture from the chief. We cannot understand why this pub dose not have better reviews, obviously some people just like to moan for moaning sake...We would recommend this pub to anyone.we liked that much we are taking our family again this evening.....Tams family

Sumptuous food! super service - well worth the visit!
  10 / 10
Visited here with our two Canadian visitors and my partner. Not been here for around 8 years - as live 2 hours away and dont get chance to get this way but remember it being good before. We were the first customers for lunch and had slow roast shoulder of lamb - it was superb. One of our Canadian visitors had the same and openly said that this was the best 'pub' food he had ever had (and trust me, he is a bit of a conaseur!) - I must say, I agree. The food was beautifully prepared and cooked, attention to detail was clear. The staff were very polite and we had the chef at the table a couple of times. Really very very happy with our visit here and can understand the place getting busy. I have tried to upload a picture to give you an idea of how lovely it was. I just need to get back to see them for a Yorkshire pudding dinner some time soon! Thank you!

Poor food and poor service
  1 / 10
50 mins for food to arrive, piked high with all veg etc smothered in gravy wether you like it or not.
Not impressed with the food or service, staff seemed to be oblivious to tgeir customers, while we waitied with our 2 young children to be fed, ww noticed several people also waiting, some tables had only half of the people served while the other half took another 15 mins, another table was finnished when they asked where their wine was.
Bone found in my sons food, food ok at best.
I wont be returning to this pub any time soon.
Much better pubs around. I know this pub has changed management in the not too distand past, yet again it seems that a lot of pubs change hands then the place goes down hill.
Bybthe way we booked on a sunday and got sunday dinner, 50 mins to wait is too long in my opinion, service costs nothing to be improved, their £9.95 cost was over the top for a pile of food rammed onto a plate and covered in gravy, maybe they think that giving extra amounts of food on a plate makes it good value.
Sorry it does not.

Real Chips Wow
  9 / 10
3 Ladies went out to the pub for a bar snack on Friday 3rd June. The new management had been in around 6 weeks. The food was really fab, tasty, fresh and the chips. (really made the meal for all of us) not frozen but peeled potatoes and deep fried WOW. Everything served was fresh, and the plates looked like a picture from a cookery book. The only thing to let it down is it wants a bit of background music and the tables clearing away quicker when people leave. I hope you do well we will be back. Maggy
