Brilliant Birthday Party at The Yews
  9 / 10
I had my 30th birthday party at The Yews recently and we all had a brilliant night. The food was superb especially considering there was a large group of us. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend it to anyone. Thanks so much to Clayton and his team!!

deputy manager very rude and grumpy
a group of 7 of us came for a pre booked xmas meal. All menus had been chosen prior to date. The food was very good but the way the restaurant operated was very bad, The deputy manager on the date -14th december was very rude , grumpy and would not look us in the eye.The last starter was brought out after everybody else had finished theirs and it was only soup! The staff only asked how we wanted the steaks done when they collected the dirty dishes from the starter instead of it already being underway once we had the starters. It took just over 2 hours to get the starter and main course. In view of the slowness of the reataurant we asked for the coffees to be brought with the sweets. The whole meal took 3 3/4 hours and the reataurant was not even full. We complained to the deputy manager who just said that they could not please everybody! He did not even apologise.THE FOOD WAS GOOD BUT DO NOT GO THERE UNLESS YOU ARE PREPAIRED TO SPEND HOURS OVER A MEAL EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE CHOSEN THE MENU! SUCH A SHAME

Bad!!
  1 / 10
I used to go to the Yews quite a lot, the food was gorgeous and the menu was big with lots of interesting meals that you wouldn't normally find in a pub, it was a real treat.

However, in the past couple of years the Yews has really gone downhill. The menu has gotten smaller and smaller and it's a real lottery as to how quickly you get served and whether you'll want to eat what you've ordered.

I keep going back every couple of months, hoping that things might have improved and am disappointed every time.

Really wish they'd wake up and realise that they've spoilt what was a lovely pub.

Brilliant! Delicious and very imaginative. The presentation of the meal was great as well as the taste.

Thank you so much for introducing this to your menu. I will be back with my vege friends.

Great venue for a family get together!
  10 / 10
The Yews, Great Glen is a great place to meet & eat! Full marks to Jayne and her team for hosting my Mum's 80th birthday celebration on 9th January 2010. This is the first time that I've felt sufficiently motivated to share my opinions and write a restaurant review, so here goes! Service at The Yews was first class and their kitchens managed to produce a good variety of hot, tasty dishes, on time and without any fuss for 28 family members, in spite of some last minute menu changes! My sirloin steak was tasty & cooked to perfection; other family members praised the Steak & Bombardier pie and the hand battered fish. The only mild disappointment was the Tuna lime & corriander fishcake, but this was an exception and overall the standard and range of the menu was very high. I have eaten at The Yews previously and this visit certainly lived up to and exceeded my expectations.
