The Variety's Superb!
  10 / 10
Every now and then I end up at the Cricketers, mostly out of convenience, but having had a few subpar experiences at other places, Iâ??ve come to appreciate it even more! The place itself has so much character and is so picturesque, it oozes charm! And as a person who likes variety, Iâ??ve tried many dishes on the menu. The variety is superb and I havenâ??t been disappointed yet! I especially liked the seafood spaghetti which was on special the day I was there.

DISGUSTING FOOD DONT GO April 2010
  1 / 10
I used to love this pub but went on sunday birthday lunch April 25th 1010 it was disgusting the scallops were raw and the roast beef had never seen a cow it looked like processed meat a slice of a donna kebab and tough I had to leave it the veg they tasted as if they were re heated frozen veg and the pots were stale and soft like cotton wool the whole meal was a disaster 3 of my party was ill afterwards and I was ill in bed for 3 days with food poisening. My son had the ale pie he left it the crust was rock hard and the meat tough and chewy. The waitress never said sorry shrugged her shoulders and was very rude. Asked for manager at 2.30 and she said he had gone home but we saw him on our way to the car park he ducked back in the doorway when he saw us ?? what a way to run a pub. We paid £85 - she did take of 2 meals and no body ate anything - some of that of course was the drinks which also at £4.99 for a SMALL glass of wine I thought was a rip off in a pub.

Poor pub food
  1 / 10
I went there on a Sunday evening in October 2008 with my fiancée and her mum and dad.

The food served on a Sunday night was very poor quality and over-priced. The roast potatoes were cold and the mashed potato cold and also lumpy. The Yorkshire pudding had been cooked in a fish-fat fryer and smelt/tasted of fish and chips!

When we complained to the sole bar staff on duty, he said the owner would be along in 10 minutes as he'd gone out (he wasn't even there at the pub - some manager!).
Eventually after half an hour he returned and ignored us and started serving behind the bar instead, so after complaining once again, he finally came over and an argument ensued whereupon he disagreed with our complaints and asked us to leave the pub!

Finally having received a partial refund for the rubbish food served up in this (once nice) dump, we left with the moronic manager/owner saying that "he didn't care if we don't come there again as it wouldn't damage his business"!

Unfortunately the place has gone so far down-hill (I've been going there on and off for the last thirty years) that I can't see it staying in business for much longer. My message to people thinking of going there is to take your custom somewhere else that appreciates it.....so hopefully the current East European imbecile that owns and runs the pub will hopefully go bust and have to be forced to sell-up this once lovely pub to someone who can run a pub properly and restore the reputation of the place back to it's former glory.
DON'T GO THERE PEOPLE!
