FOOD DISGUSTING
we paid a visit on Saturday lunchtime, and were disgusted at the quality of the food.Soup just tasted of vinegar,my mushrooms in peppercorn sauce was just a plate of brown slop.We then progressed to the carvery.Beef can only be described as cremated, soggy veg, including roast spuds, and watery new pots.Chef kept moaning about how long it took him to keep uncovering food.Needless to say,we didnt attempt a dessert for obvious reasons.Never again, and would advise people to find somewhere else !!!!

Lovely food, staff and place
  9 / 10
I have been to the wild man a couple of times now with my other half, and it?s set in a lovely little village that?s easy to find, on entry I was greeted by the "regulars" who were a not the stereotypical punters, they were very cheerful and even the kids were playing. We spoke to a very happy waitress who showed us to a table she chose one near the window for us with a nice view of the street, my husband chose to get the drinks himself, to see what the bar had to offer, he loved the Scottish bar maid, she was very bubbly and welcoming and was happy to help. I chose to have a white wine spritzer and James had a guest ale, the bar maid helped my other half choose a guest ale. The waitress was very happy to answer any questions we had about the meals on the menu, once we had decided, she took our order I chose to have a nut roast with a salad and my other half had the obvious carvery, the nut roast came out as Jamie went up to the carvery, the serving time was very good, my meal had a beautiful salad which consisted of lettuce leaves, mixed peppers, spring onions, with red onion circlets on top it also had a nice dressing on the side and a pepper sauce arranged beautifully on the plate, on first thoughts it looked lovely. My husband had beef with plenty of vegetables (plenty!!) he was however bugged at the moustached "head chef" who stuttered and could not answer where the meat was from? a pleasant question obviously, the chef seemed nice but lacked enthusiasm as someone who in front of the carvery should have lots of, however it?s not a complaint, the food was absolutely delicious, and the waitresses had enough enthusiasm to make up for it, we did not stay for desserts, as we were full up from our main courses, however we did have another drink outside in the sun, and had pleasant chit chat with the locals, we will definitely be back as our friends say that last Tuesday they had a lovely beef pie which got my other half licking his lips. Lovely place, we will be returning very soon for another tasty meal.

YUCK
On Sunday 6 May we decided to pop into the Wild Man for a meal as you had supposedly won the Regional Carvery of the Year.

1 Setting
A Cheap napkins ? single ply, and these make such a huge difference. A good quality napkin is not at all expensive.
B Odd cutlery ? some Kings and some plain!!!

2 Roast
A Carrots vastly overcooked ? everyone knows that batons stay crisper longer than circles, and these had been steeped in water forever as they were so soggy they hardly held their shape. The cut beans were similarly floating and overcooked.
B Peas had to be tinned!!! This is not the 1950s ? disgraceful.
C Tiny tiny florets of broccoli, again steeped in water. There was no ?let me get you some fresher heads of broccoli that you can actually identify as broccoli?.
D The gravy had a skin on it!!!!!!!!!
Actually, the turkey and beef were cooked extremely well, as was the cauliflower cheese.

3 Service
A sweet was ordered, and after over 15 minutes had not appeared. The waitress had a very feeble excuse, and we were offered a ?free? sweet. We had had enough of the Wild Man by this stage and left, but no compensation was given for this extremely poor service.

Strange also to see that after very poor ratings on your website (now wishing I had looked before coming in), I was unable to add this catalogue of misery ? no wonder you took this off your web page.

Suffice to say, we will not be visiting you ever again, and can in no way recommend you to our friends or clients.

If you did win this ?competition?, you must have been the only entrant as there is no way on this earth you would have won otherwise.

For the sake of your business, you really do need to pull your socks up. I won?t hold my breath for a reply, as I see other customers have not had any luck in that department either.

No Complaints and we had a great time
  10 / 10
Our family went as a party of twelve to celebrate a birthday and we had a wonderful time.

The food was excellent, there is a good choice and everyone enjoyed their selection, the carvery lets you choose how many and what type of vegetables you want, plus selecting from a range of sauces and delicious gravy.

The vegetarians in our party we also very pleased with their meal.

The staff were excellent, so friendly and helpful and joined in with preparing the candles on the cake and bringing it through at just the right time.

The location is very good - a large car park so no problems with parking, just off the A14 so easy to get to and no traffic problems driving there.

My wife and I went to another birthday meal at the Wild Man at the end of last year and were also very pleased with it, we'd be happy to recommend it to our friends and look forward to our next visit.
