Highly recommended restaurant

This was my first visit to Satis House - 13.1.08 - and the food, service and atmosphere were excellent.
One of my main gripes about most restaurants is that the food isn't always as hot as it could be - but each course was piping hot, served with a smile and attendance by the manager or owner (not sure which he is...).
As a starter, I had smoked salmon linguine with creme fraiche and herbs, and there was lots of salmon - not the usual waving of the salmon over the pasta!
My mother had pea and ham soup, and in her words, there was so much ham that she could have made a couple of sandwiches out of it!!
My main course was roast beef with roasted potatoes, yorkshire pudding, carrot and swede - where real butter was used to mash them together - fine beans, peas, and cauliflower cheese.
Each portion of vegetables was cooked well without being either over or under-done, and although this sounds like a plate piled high with food, its presentation made it really appetising.
For pudding, (and I really had to struggle to eat it after such filling 1st and main courses!), was walnut and date sponge with a clear dark sauce and finished off with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. Again, the sponge was incredibly hot, and extremely light - no stodginess there at all.
If there was any criticism, the sliced roast beef was so thick that it was almost like a steak - but very well cooked.
I travelled here from South Essex to lunch with friends, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. I'll certainly be making a return visit. A very pleasant experience. Thank you !
