But you dont have to be a fan of Jane Austen to enjoy the pretty village of Chawton or the attractions of the Swan Hotel.Situated in the main high street of this pretty market town the Swan Hotel is a beautifully kept and presented Old English Hotel.Dating back to pre 1377, when first mentioned in Charter, the hotel has accommodated many famous guests, including, Queen Elizabeth the First, The Earl of Essex, Lord Nelson, Sir Francis Drake, Judge Jeffries (The hanging Judge), Field Marshall Montgomery, Lord Baden Powell to name but a few.The rooms have recently been refurbished.Only 8 Miles from Petersfield, 11 from Basingstoke and 4 miles from Selbourne.
