Stunning location. Beautiful food, accommodating and friendly staff
  10 / 10
Booked in for a party of 12 on a busy Tuesday night, which Is pie night. They had a wonderful selection of pies, around 5/6 for £5.00 served with chips an peas, and optional gravy. The pub was very busy however out table was very well looked after and we didn't have to wait long for our food. I had the lamb and mint pie which is homemade and was extremely tasty and very filling. They also have a selection of vegetarian pies which was amazing. Our bill was a pleasant suprise when it arrived and for a party of twelve we were delighted. I will definitely be visiting again with both friends and family. Thank you for a fabulous evening, keep up the good work.

Rude Staff? Rubbish!
  8 / 10
I must say i was shocked to read the comment "Rude Staff", Having been to The Anchor several times for either family meals or work gatherings i can safely say it is one of the most welcoming pubs i have ever been to. The staff have always been polite and ready to serve you with a smile. I must add, i have recently been to The Anchor with my colleagues, I mentioned when booking a table that one of our party was a particularly fussy vegetarian to which I was told that if there was a specific dish in mind it would potentially be possible to make it especially. At such short notice i was delighted when the dish requested was made, making one very happy fussy vegetarian who struggles to 'eat out'. Thankyou!

reply to rude staff
i would just like to comment on Tim's report about rude staff. the meal in question is on our specials board not the menu as he suggested, he was also told that if he phoned the day before i would be able to get some made as they are homemade. they are a very popular special and yes we do run out of them but that is what specials are about. i did phone back but i only suggested that i did not appreciate having the phone slammed down on me as i was trying to help him at no point was i rude
