VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMERS
  10 / 10
While visiting Lydbrook on holidays we had the pleasure of dining at the Courtfield Arms on a couple of occasions. I can certainly recommend this restaurant and pub as a lovely place to visit. It is beautifully situated with amazing views over the river. The food was very good, the wine was lovely and the staff are very nice and friendly. We enjoyed our meals very much and afterwards we adjourned to the bar for a drink and a chat with the locals. On one of the evenings there was live music in the bar and this only added to our enjoyment. We will certainly go there again next time we visit the area. Well worth a visit.

Suprisingly quite nice
  8 / 10
I was invited to The Courtfield Arms by some friends last week and, as I always do, I checked up on the online reviews of the place and found them a little dodgy to say the least, but as I was an invited guest I arrived with little expectation.
I must say how impressed I was with what I ate, as were the rest of my party. I started with a perfectly acceptable brocolli and stilton soup and followed it with a local beer battered cod, chips & mushy peas. Don't get me wrong they will not be winning any Michelin stars but as honest homecooked pub grub goes I could not fault it.
I do not know if they have changed chef recently or something has changed in the kitchen, but on my experience I was impressed. The decor is lovely, the staff are very efficient and polite and the food could not really be faulted.

DONT EAT THERE
  1 / 10
Took a party of 5 there Saturday evening 7th of may 2011 as a thankyou bar staff were helpfull and attentive with a can do attitude ordered drinks and food all seemed well but how wrong could we be food arrived after a resonable preperation time the first thing we noticed was the well done steak was as black as charcoal and just as dry we sent this straight back and received an appoligy from the service staff after about 20mins another steak arrived from the kitchen this was even more overcooked than the first steak my wife also had a problem with her meal a steak and ale pie which had tomatoes and green beans inside it both of which still had all of the woody stalks still attached so we now had two meals which had problems told staff that we were still very unhappy and the lady said she would get the manager to come and see us i said thankyou and suggested she also asked the chief to come and get feedback from us as the standard of food was shocking only the manager came over he was very helpfull and agreed that both meals did not meet their standards offered to remake the meals and drop them both off the bill he then went and cooked both of these meals himself to a good standard
We then thought ok we may as well have a desert "cant go far wrong there" Again how wrong we were we had sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce this was served with a very overpowering black treacle at this point we asked for the bill and put the night down as washout and went home
