Disaster
  1 / 10
After hearing about this restaurant I thought i would give it a try being a big italian food fanatic ...big mistake after the waiter came and took our drink orders and talked us through the menu and the specials i ordered the fillet rossini with vegetables and my wife ordered a pasta dish tagliatelle dello chef when the food EVENTUALLY came we were greatly dissapointed the fillet was tough and the vegetables were luke warm and the potatoes were still hard.Being the modest man that i am i kindly said to the waiter about my fillet and he appoligised on the chefs behalf and offered to take it back i said i didnt want to wait that long as my wife had aready started eating and we wanted to eat together. But thats just getting started. with the constant moaning of the owner Paulo to his only waiter who i am surprised didnt walk out just added to the dissapointing evening. After the waiter jancarlo took our plates way and appoligised once again on the chefs behalf we decided to order coffees my wife wanted a liquer coffee but didnt know which liquer the waiter jancarlo advised my wife that he cold make her a special orange coffee and i settled for a black coffee. When the coffee came out i must say that wasnt a disspointment my wife loved the liquer coffee !! and my black coffee was perfect as well im sorry to give a bad review but a message to the owner let your waiter do his job after all he's a waiter not a one man band. I will visit the restaurant again i just hope that tis improves.

Disappointing meal
  3 / 10
Had a very disapointing meal at La Capannina November 2010 having eaten here a few times over the years ,I asked to speak with the chef Gianni only to find he had left for a new restaurant in Livingston back in 2008. Seems the Chef does make the restaurant

THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD IS IN WEST CALDER
  10 / 10
Before I left the country in 2006 I used to frequent La Capannina on my return my friend (from Glasgow) decided to return. When I called to make a reservation I found out it had changed hands. Not to be detered I asked about certain preferences, handled with diplomacy.
My friend is vegetarian and I am rather difficult. The maitre,d Laura guided us through our meals and wines with perfection.
Though the restaurant has changed management it has lost none of its character I still find the ambience very homely but, you can still feel special!
