Enjoyable stay
  10 / 10
Stayed here a few times with work, it is always the first place I ring when working around the area. Top marks to the landlady for keeping a clean, well decorated, quiet house with lots of free additions. I will be back.

Stayed at the bury guest house 13/06/12, it was clean, well decorated, the staff was happy to help in any way. Had a lovely quiet night sleep in what seems to be a new bed. I would reccomend to anyone working in the area.

ONE NIGHT WAS ENOUGH
May I say before I rate the accomodation that Ian the host was very helpfull & the wi fi worked well.
On arrival I thought my sat nav had sent me to the wrong place ! council house with 5 black bin bags outside and a row of paving slabs over potholes to park on.
As the door was opened there I was greeted with a strong smell of gloss paint plastered walls still drying out and masking tape over everything not to be painted, including the carpet which had not managed to save it in places !!.
The bedroom was basic and as I moved one of the beds discoverd cigarett filters and a peice of wood which may have been from the hole where the skirting board should have been !
The shower room had a peice of carpet on the floor ! and the handle was taped up for painting so was not able to be used.
The toilet was the same and the carpet spattered with bits.
Good job I was in my work gear as I have a nice white stripe down the sleeve from one of the doorways.
Breakfast was from the microwave that had turned the sausage hard and the bacon a greeny grey, the scrambled eggs & beans were ok.
A good hoovering would not go a miss.

For £45 I was not impressed (Travellodge prices)

Friendly Stay Away
  10 / 10
We stayed for 2 nights at the Bury Guest House early Oct 2011 and enjoyed the stay. The owners were happy to help us in anyway we wanted, the rooms were clean and tidy, newly decorated with new furniture and tv. Wifi was free and had a good reception. The stairwells are undergoing refurbishment but this was not a problem as they were kept clean and tidy while we were there and if they are redecorated to the same standard as the rooms then this will make it a lovely guest house, the owner said this should be finished the internal refurbishment by the end of October 2011. Breakfast was lovely and cooked fresh. I would definatly reccomend staying here, at £25 per person per night we think it was well worth the money.

one night stay,
On arrival to the bury House we were met by the owner in his car, after showing us the code to open the main door we were greeted with a very shabby entrance, the paint work was all chipped, carpet need a good hoover, wallpaper had holes in it, this did not improve on the walk up 2 flights of stairs to our room. The room it self was very basic but clean.the view from the room was the over grown garden with an added feature of a mattress!!!there are no onsuite facilities so the toilet/bathroom were on the floor below us.The toilet was clean but again shabby, the bathroom light switch had snapped and once I managed to reach it and put the light on I was greeted with flaking artex and mould and a wooden board that seperated the shower from the basin, the hand towel in the bathroom was for all to use( thankfully I took my own). They do supply bathtowels but we did'nt use them !
I asked what time breakfast would be served and told 8am as rugby world cup was on and it was between matches!!!!
Breakfast was held in the attached house next door, so you have to go outside and in the other front door, here we were greeted by a plasterer and dust sheets, the dinning area again was very basic, limited cereal, no fruit, the cooked breakfast was not a menu it was what you got and delivered by meals on wheels and heated in the microwave.
For £75 pound the night (included breakfast) I would have at least expected the place to be tidy, granted they are having work done but this should not have any affect on paying guests.Yes the owners were pleasant when you saw them but if you needed anything it was a phone call from our mobile as no one was actually at the house.
I think abit more customer care is called for and I would definately
say they over charged.
