... then the Brownlow Arms in Caldwell is the place for you. The food was very nice - hats off to the chef. He definitely must be keeping this place open. The owner/manager wasn't a very friendly/inviting individual and considering the amount of staff they had working that night, I would have expected much better/timely service. We had booked a table for 7pm - got seated and had ordered by 7.15pm - then waited till 8.20pm for the main course to eventually arrive (glad we never ordered a starter!). We decided that we'd try a desert and after being handed the desert menu, waited another 40 mins to get asked what we wanted. Got fed up and had to go to the bar to ask the "pleasant" owner/manager who almost snarled that he would send a waitress over to our table. I will not be going back there and will advise my friends and colleagues to stay clear. Food was 10/10 but the evening was spoilt by the lousy service.
