ANYONE WHO DISLIKES THIS NATIONAL TREASURE,STICK TO THE CRAPPY PUBS
Personally i have been visiting this one in a million good old fashioned Ale House for the last 30 or so years.
In all the years i have drank there i have never once had to return a pint to the bar, unlike the Witherspoons e.t.c.
The variety of Real Ales are second to none.
My favourite is B.M.W.(black magic woman) followed by Theakstons and then a real mind blowing Baltic 8% ter.
The food is unmatched by any other pub especially the precooked shite ones.
The pork pies, various flavours of sausage and the various cheeses are in a class of their own.
I havens tried one yet i am ashamed to say,but the Ploughmans Lunch is said to be the finest for miles and miles around.
The proprietor/owner Mick is the most down to earth normal nice guy one could ever care to meet.
The other staff are really good hard working bods.
Great conservatory built to the side allowing another 30-40 seats when tremendously busy in the summer.
Dogs are treated as guests, they have treats on the bar for free and some water bowls, tell me where else can you get that?

All in all this lovely Inn probably would not suit everyone
(thank god there would be no room to sit :-)
Long may this Inn be preserved, there will always be a constant supply of customers, because there is not anywhere else like it,these type of ale houses are diminishing and being replaced with Gin Palace fast food conveyor belt pubs.

I have no connection with the Griffin or their associates,i am not related to anyone who owns it or involved in the running of it and i am not on for a free pint, although if i showed this to Mick i may be lucky.

Love this place
  9 / 10
I adore ales, peaceful surroundings and friendly staff and this pub has all these, not only that, they also brew their own. Small friendly pub that allows dogs. The pub do not have a crystal ball that forsees if they are going to be sick. There are a few humans, adult and child, that are sometimes sick in public. Only reason for a 9/10 is because they are not open all day when I'm on holiday from work!

Not so good
  6 / 10
I agree that you can still get a nice pint of real ale, but its getting expensive....expect to pay at least £3.00 for a decent drink.

One thing I have found is that this place is to dog friendly. Of a Sunday I have counted 8 dogs in the place and have even seen a scrap (between dogs). There is a clear health issue......i even saw one throwing up under a table.
