August 18, 2010 - excellent meal
  8 / 10
Tuesday night and the service and welcome were excellent.
Our party of 5 all thought the choice, and the food we had were very good indeed.
We had Mackeral pate (fantastic) & chicken pate to start, followed by main courses including fillet steak, rump of lamb, enormous pork chop and fillet steak salad - all delicious. Can recommend the melting choc. brownies for pudding. House wine excellent.
A very enjoyable experience - and the pub is lovely.
But be warned, children are NOT allowed inside this pub, and we dont think Jerry makes any exceptions. The garden is fab. if its a sunny day, but dont try and eat here with kids under 12 (?) in the evening!!

brilliant lunch at the griffins head.
  9 / 10
i had lunch with some family friends on a wednesday. the pub is set in a peaceful village with some great walking to be done. we sat in the garden as the weather was superb. The menu was great with something for everyone even the veggies. i had a shredded duck salad to start followed buy a pork chop. they were both great the pork chop was the size of a house, and the duck was done in a 5 spice. my friends both had fresh asparagus to start witch looked very nice, and then the veg lasagne and the lamb it all looked very well presented and going on what they said very tasty to. we all shared a bottle of wine chosen from a long list that went down a bit to well in the afternoon sun. all in all a great lunch in a really pleasant setting big thumbs up from me.
