disgrasful way to treat customers.
As we had travelled to Brampton to attend a family event, one of our party informed the owner that the function we were attending would not be finishing until midnight and that we would expect to be back to the hotel any time up until 12:45. After having a wonderful evening we returned to the hotel at 12:40. The lights were out and so we knocked on the door and waited. Eventually the owner opened the door and announced that we were late, that he had been waiting for over an hour for us and that this was far from amusing. He was extremely confrontational. When asked exactly what he wanted us to do, he continued to lecture us about being given ample opportunity to inform him that we would be late and spoke to us as if we were a group of naughty children. After spending several minutes on the door step of the hotel, being lectured and getting nowhere near being allowed into the building, we suggested that if he wanted us to leave, if we were allowed to our rooms we would pack and do so. He declined this offer, but stated that he would not allow us to stay unless we paid him immediately, as he had previously experienced people leave without paying. With our belongings held to ransom we agreed and eventually he let us into the building. When presented with a card for payment he informed us that he required cash. Having spent the evening out we had insufficient funds to pay for both rooms and so one of our party had to leave and go to a nearby cashpoint. Eventually the transaction was completed and we retired.
I would strongly recommend that, if looking for accommodation in this village, you do not stay here if you intend to actually behave as a normal hotel guest, especially if you will be around after midnight, when the owner appears to undergo a personality change.
