The Stanley Arms

Me and my partner have visited The Stanley Arms on a couple of occasions for lunch and the last time we were there we both said it would be nice to stay there for a change. We did just that last week! Since our last visit, The Stanley Arms has new owners, Wayne and Angela. We were not disappointed....we were booked into room 5 which was absoloutely lovely, very spacious and well decorated. We had our evening meal in the restuarant accompanied by Charlie (not sure what type of large fish he is!) he lives in a nice big tank set in the wall, Charlie is 25 years old. The food was divine, cooked to perfection (thanks to Angela) I opted for fillet steak, medium to well done and believe me, the meat just melted....delicious. My boyfried had 'surf and turf' and his meal was greatly appreciated and to top it all, both meals were served with 'proper' homemade chips...yum! The wine list is extensive, we enjoyed our two bottles of merlot. Wayne and Angela were brilliant hosts, the attention to detail was second to none, nothing was any bother to them at all. In the bar there is a good selection of guest ales, I was particularly partial to the German beer, and after my meal a few large amarettos! The Stanley Arms comes highly recommended, we certainly will be visiting again in the not too distant future. Thank you Wayne and Angela for a fabulous time!!
