my son's nursery closed at short notice in early 2010 and I had to take the first position available elsewhere. I couldn't have got luckier. It took him just a week to settle into the new environment. Yes there were tears at first but that is to be expected surely! His key workers quickly got to know him as an individual - and that is what makes a nursery good in my opinion. He's now moved into the pre-school unit of the nursery and again the staff there are brilliant.

University Hospital Is the Safest Place for your Child/ren!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoever john45 is and wrote such a shocking review of the University Hospital Day Nursery in Nottingham is a disgrace. I find it very interesting on john45's profile that next to Age, Gender and Location it states "not telling". Does this john45 have something to hide i.e a total lack of evidence??? My son aged 3 1/5 has been attending UHDN since he was 10 months old.My son has MULTIPLE FOOD ALLERGIES (20 plus) ranging from minor effects of blotching, rashes and vomiting to full blown ANAPHYLAXIS. When my son has had ANAPHYLAXIS in the past whilst in my care (his mum)he has had immediate shortness of breath, swelling of his face and throat which lead to rapid UNCONSCIOUSNESS. I had to administer a Life Saving Injection of Adrenaline and get him to a Hospital for further life saving treatment. My son's consultant has stated he has NEVER seen a child with so many Food Allergies. Can you imagine my FEARS when it came to placing my son in a Nursery and handing his care over to total strangers??? Nobody can unless you've been there. I found UHDN after only hearing EXCELLENT REPORTS from people. I turned up uninvited and was shown around the WHOLE nursery immediately by the Nursery Manager and introduced to the staff including the COOK. There was an overwhelming sense of friendliness, PROFESSIONALISM, and LOTS of Happy Children. I instantly knew this was the place for my precious Son. When i take my Son to nursery (Even to Date) i consult with the Cook to decide what is for the daily meals and what alternatives my Son can have if any "Allergy Food" is on the menu. Even now I'm always surprised at what ALTERNATIVES she comes up with to make his meals as fun, healthy and similar to the other children's as possible and how much she and the Manager go out of their way to make sure he eats well balance, wholesome meals. On numerous occasions they have even gone to the local supermarket to buy in particular foods that he can have and are favourites of his. My son has NEVER NEVER been given any new foods without PRIOR CONSULTATION with me and when my son eats, the classroom staff constantly watch him (from a distance so as not to make him feel "different" from the other children) for any signs of a reaction. Obviously when he was a young baby and we were unsure of how many allergies he had, like with me had had reactions at nursery. When this happened I received IMMEDIATE PHONE CALLS informing me and what treatment had been given. I once told them i thought he'd be OK with a particular food and gave my FULL CONSENT for them to give it to my son. He had a severe reaction and was immediately given the LIFE SAVING INJECTION and Transported via 999 to HOPSITAL. Their communication was SO PROMPT with me that i actually beat the Emergency Ambulance to hospital and was waiting for him on his arrival. I was given a VERY COMPREHENSIVE handover by the Senior Nursery Staff that travelled with him and my son arrived at hospital safe and well and ALIVE! I am still to this day ETERNALLY GRATEFUL to them for saving his life. They knew exactly what to do, when to do it and how to do it. THIS is PRICELESS Dedication and COMMITMENT on their part. Hand on heart i can honestly say that my son is more safe and me content, when left in the care of his nursery, UHDN, then when (and not very often) i leave him with family or friends. I NEVER leave him there with concerns of his multiple 20+ food allergies. I would URGE ANYONE wanting to take their child/ren to UHDN to contact them DIRECT and not spend time dwelling on Ridiculous and false statements as posted by this "john45". The nursery can always put you directly in touch with myself for total reassurance that your child will ALWAYS BE SAFE AND THEIR NUMBER 1 CONCERN" My son leaves UHDN next year for school and i dread the change as i cant imagine that anyone can do as much for my sons well being and safety as they have done. From the moment you step in the door of UHDN you WILL KNOW this is the ultimate place for your childs care!!!!!!!

Some staff are not proffesional in the slightest giving children foods which parents have asked staff not to give children.
