We are a private day nursery established in 1999. We moved from the Wigan college site to our current location in summer 2007. We cater for children aged from 6 weeks to 11 years.

We have an out of school club and pick up children from mabs cross primary school and st Mary's and st John's primary school, these are both within walking distance. We do holiday clubs during the school holidays and arrange exciting nd fun activities as well as trips out for you Children. The out of school club is separate from the nursery and is upstairs on the first floor of the building.

We offer 2, 3 and 4 year old funding which is 15 hours free nursery place a week.

We have an established and successful pet school room that enhances your child's learning preparing your children for there next journey of there life (primary school).

We are in Wigan town centre and are in walking distance of Wigan college, Wigan infirmary and the arcades in Wigan town centre.

great nursery

my son has been attending heron day nursery for the last 8 months, i cannot fault this nursery or the staff, all the staff are friendly and polite and work really hard to make sure all the children are happy, settled and can learn through play following early years devolopment. i can see how well my son has developed as well as gaining more confidence. he enjoys his meals and snacks which are provided the cook/owner shows an interest in the children and their diet too. the cost of childcare is very competative compared with others in the wigan area. all in all this is a fantastic nursery setting gill taylor

great nursery
  9 / 10
THE STAFF AT THE NURSERY ARE GREAT AND ALWAYS THERE TO OFFER ADVICE ABOUT MY CHILD. THEY HELPED MY SON SETTLE IN WELL DOING LOTS OF THINGS WITH HIM, ALSO KEEPING ME INFORMED TRUTHFULLY ON HOW SHE'D BEEN THROUGHOUT THE DAY(NOT LIKE THE LAST NURSERY HE ATTENDED THEY JUST SAID HE'D BEEN FINE WHEN I COULD TELL HE'D BEEN CRYING). I FEEL HE'S SAFE AT THE NURSERY AND WELL LOVED BY ALL HIS TEACHERS. HE'S LEARNED SO MUCH SINCE BEING HERE AND HIS BACK TO HIS OUT GOING SELF AGAIN NOT A WITH DRAWN CHILD HE WAS AT OTHER NURSERY. THE BUILDING IS OLD AND IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A NURSERY OUTSIDE BUT GREAT, WARM AND WELCOMING TO ALL.

fantastic nursery

My daughter has attended Heron Day Nursery since she was 5 months old.
During this time I have always found the staff very friendly and helpful in every way and extremely competent.
The nursery along with the cook helped me when weaning my child giving her fresh produce daily and introducing her to different foods, they took in to consideration her milk allergy and was very cautious when giving her new foods to try.
The nursery is great value for money and i would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

A poor nursery
  1 / 10
The manager is incompetent and has a bad attitiude. The staff appear poorly qualified and nonchalent. Their daily record sheets are frequently filled in with incorrect information or just not filled in at all. The surroundings are disappointing and the toys, although of good quality, there are not enough to keep all the children occupied. The standard of food is not worth the £10 extra money paid on top of the overpriced fees of £150. I would advise people to look at other nurseries.
