This venue has been available for hire for some 5 years or more and is a very popular venue for small to medium functions. The function hall & bar is part of the West Herts Sports complex and was originally the main Bar & lounge. The Sports Club now have a New Bar & lounge adjacent.
The function hall facilities were extensively upgraded in 2008 and this planned refurbishment was posted on the Sports Club website. As far as value for money is concerned it is definitely not over priced. Where can you hire a function hall for up to 150 people with staff on hand for £200. As a tennis member we use the function hall all the time for team dinners and the staff are very professional & provide excellant service.
All the facilities at this Sports Club ground have made provisisons for invalid access and I am suprised at the comments made by the person whose request to use the facility was not granted.

I am very disappointed to read the above comment as i have held several functions here myself and have found Louise and her staffs attitude exceptional, they did everything within their power to ensure that my functions were ones to remember. I myself had a guest who used a wheel chair and they had no problems using any of the facilities within the function room including the disabled access. I would recommend them to anyone and i would definitly use them for any further functions i hold.

I approached the manager called Louise about hiring the hall for my disabled sons 16th birthday party,whom totally refused me the hire of the hall as "she didnt do 16th parties"I explained that the party would be would be fully supervised and as the majority of attendees are also in wheelchairs and that I really did not see why she was totally refusing me the hire of the hall the pompus patronising excuse for a homosapien went on to reply that she was "so sorry that my son was disabled" but she wasnt going to allow me to hire the hall. I informed her that her remark was a form of discrimination so basically to all you people out there whom want to hire this venue it has no disabled access the toilets are a joke nor does it even have a lowered bar so diabled people can be heard and seen when they order plus it is seriously over priced she doesnt know about the DD Act watch out youre breaking the law by not being complient to it as you are offering a public service!
