Terrible Food
I can honestly say that the food was awful. My husband and I took my elderley mother for a bar meal. I wish we had not bothered. My mother chose a steak pie and chips. The pastry was almost raw and the meat tough. My husband had cold scampi with hot greasy chips and almost frozen to death peas. I had a steak baguette. The steak was okay, the gravy was revolting and the baguette semi raw. It was one of those part cooked ones that you heat up in the oven, only I think that they forgot to finish it off in the oven. The chips were greasy. The whole meal was terrible. Would never go there again.

Appalling
I have never experienced such a dreadful service in my life. myself and my partner travel lot, all over the world and this is the most appalling experience we have ever ever come across. We arrived on boxing day expecting Christmas spirit. We checked into our rooms about 10 after paying in advance and been promised breakfast. It was freezing cold winter, the heating was broken, we had 1 single sheet. There was no one on reception and we could not find anyone to help (illegal by the way). Throughout the night our radiator burst and flooded the carpet up to our bed, then the toilet. We had no running water and no way to get a drink, therefore no shower or ability to wash. When we confronted the management in the morning we were told 'well you had a room for the night didn't you'! Absolutely dreadful, he refused to talk to us, refused to explain why we had no breakfast and just walked away. It is beggars belief that someone like this is allowed to work in the service industry. Appalling, stay well clear.

Avoid at all costs

Some people may remember a programme called Fawlty Towers - if you would like to experience a real live Basil Fawlty then stay here. The managements motto is 'the customer is always wrong' In fairness, the young chap who was behind the bar and took us to our room was very helpful and polite taking an interest in our day and how we got on. However, the rooms themselves are basic. The main problem was the refusal to provide breakfast which had been paid for as the chef (who also appeared to be the duty manager) had turned everything off bang on 9.30 on a Sunday. We had been in the restaurant before 9.30 but no one came to take our order and when we had to ask to be served, we were told it was too late. The 'manager' came over and he basically said rules were rules and that was that. He would not accept that we had been in and waiting in the restaurant before 9.30 and walked off. The iceing on the cake was to follow - the table next door HAD ordered their breakfast and when they asked where it was, he said there had been some mix up with the order and refused to provide the food they had ordered along time before 9.30. This was particularly annoying as the charged us more than normal with it beng race weekend and I recon at least 7 or 8 people went withour breakfast which they were entitled to AND paid for. It is also located right next to a busy main road which will wake you up unless you are a very heavy sleeper and they had no bitter on draught - just pumps. Must try harder is an understatement and I would suggest trying the local Travel Lodge.

Red Lion is awful
I arrived and asked to look at the room. It was shoddy, damp, cold, mouldy, smelly I did not feel safe staying here with my young children so did not even check in. The manager would not give me any refund. He was extremely rude and abrupt. Please do not stay here!

dreadful
  1 / 10
We have just returned from a dreadful stay at this motel. We were given a key to our room and instruction how to reach it and that really was the full extent of our welcome. The room was shoddy, damp, cold, mouldy, broken furniture, noisy from both traffic and drunks with smokers gathered just outside the window. The sink was outside the shower room, in the bedroom. The tv needed binoculars to see it and we are still suffering neck ache from our viewing. Head bashed against needless rail on bed whilst viewing. No sky tv in pub or room along with no welcome and no atmosphere - also no people. Our full English breakfast was cold with tomato slime over everything, uht milk, wrong breakfast order . Request to see the manager was met with he's unavailable. Would I go back?... NO, Payed over the odds for a rubbish experience. Go somewhere else.
