About

The owners say:

Our company, Republican State took over the lease on the Stag in September 2011. The Stag has been a popular venue in Penn, Wolverhampton for decades and we want see this continue and grow.

Our aim now is to put the local publican back at the heart of the community and provide a place where our locals can meet for good value and quality food and drink, where they will be well looked after and can enjoy a friendly and buzzing atmosphere. We have reintroduced hand pulls behind the bar and offer a selection of ales for our guests that enjoy their beer.

We can cater for all our guest's special occasions whether it is birthday parties, anniversaries, christenings and wakes. We ensure you are well looked after and all your requirements are met.

We also run regular events to provide fun and entertainment to our locals and as a way of raising funds for local good causes - look out for these on our events page. Our recent beer festival was a real success and we will be running these on a regular basis.

In the warmer months we have the Ghost Courtyard where you can enjoy the fresh air in our beer garden. You never know, you could meet one of our resident ghosts (although they spend most of their time in the beer cellar!), one of whom is believed to be the wife of a previous vicar at St Bart's Church next door.

Good food and ale
  9 / 10
Went for a bite to eat in early February - remember it used to have a good reputation for food and still has! Had 2 lovely main courses, a huge piece of cod and a delicious lamb and mint pie. Portion size was amazing. Staff friendly and polite. Had a goood range of ales and EPA was a nice pint. Well worth a look.
