The Old School House

All I can say is do not book this venue for a special occasion. The staff are rude rude rude!!! I think they take their customers too much for granted and coast on the reputation for a pretty view. I would never book an event here or even drop by for coffee, you are treated as a second class citizen which is apalling in this day and age where you would think people would make an effort to please the customer and retain business.

Extremely disappointed!
A friend didn't come with us, because she didn't rate the place, but we went anyway! OOPs! She was right!
On a busy Saturday night, we were told to wait and stand on arrival, we were left hanging around for a while, no one smiled, offered to get us a drink, or apologised to us! When the MD eventually came to take our orders he was curt, monosyllabic and unenthusiastic (about his own business!) He didn't even welcome us! The young staff are well trained but lack the gravitas you would expect! It was like a school canteen indeed! Vegetables bland,and served like we were in the banqueting suite; for £35 per head, without drinks, we can think of many more places to go and be warmly welcomed! No one else seemed to hang around after thay had eaten to enjoy the 'ambience' either! I wonder why?

We went to the oldschoolhouse on friday 19th febuary and we were very impressed indeed, we walked in to a very warm reception and greeted with a smile. We were sat at a table in the lounge area and were asked if we would like a drink before being given the menu's.

The menu's were very impressive with an extensive a la carte menu and a table d'hote menu very reasonable priced at £19.75 for 3 courses. We were then informed of the specials for the evening and was also told that there was 30% off our total food bill.

Once we had ordered our food we were taken through into the restaurant by one of the waitresses and sat at our table which was very nice in a window.

Our starters came within a few minutes of being at the table which i have to say were very very good. In due course we were served our main course and dessert which again were excellent.

We then we asked if we would like coffee and to go back through to the lounge area to relax, we took the waitress up on the offer and decided to take a liquer floater coffee back through in the lounge.

This was the first time me and my partner had been to the restaurant and i am sure it will not be the last after the excellent experience that we had on the evening, i would recommend the restaurant to anybody looking to go out for beautiful meal and relaxing evening.
