The White Swan

What a lovely old pub, in a beautiful country setting, serving a very varied and unusual menu! There must have been about 40 main meals on the blackboard plus the standard pub grub selection. My friend had the ostrich steak and I had the kangaroo, both were tender, beautifully cooked and tasty. They were served with two different varieties of potatoes, one of which was Dauphinois, don't know the other one, and a platter of fresh seasonal veggies. Desserts were also fab and again, a huge selelction. Apparently, they have lots of activity evenings, quizzes etc and also serve afternoon teas on Saturdays. I would heartily recommend, but you may have to book first!

This is a good comfortable pub, with a good menu, very reasonable prices (nowhere is "cheap" these days) excellent value-for-money food, good beer, very good play area, and friendly staff. My family and I go here regularly, and we always leave satisfied. I am sorry that a previous reviewer was less-than-complimentary, and I strongly disagree with the impression he left (obviously i can't know their specifics). I will recommend this pub to anyone, and have received thanks and good feedback on my recommendations. I will add that I have no connection, other than as a regularly-satisfied customer. I only question the previous poor review so as to encourage and support pubs and eating places of this type.

have tried this pub a few years ago and they did at one time sell good food..tried it today and i wouldn't go back there again service was good but everything that came out had been microwaved. My wife had the fish pie which came unevenly heated and hadn't seen the inside of an oven certainly not on the day we went and i had the malaysian chicken curry which contained very dubious diced chicken which if i had to guess was flown exclusively from thialand last year. This was followed up with apple pie and custard...can't go wrong eh....oh yes you can pastry has a very unique habit of going soggy in a microwave. I won't bother commenting on my young daughters meal just wouldn't recommend it. Sorry white swan but i won't be coming back.

Brilliant menu, price, ambience, service and food. Cannot fault. Definitely worth a try. Lovely secret garden for adults and kids play area too. 5*
