About

A Welcoming 18th Century pub & Dining Venue in the Black & White Hamlet of Tilley, Hidden away on the outskirts of Wem. The pub was modernised in 2008 but retains character features like Oak Floors, a Log Fire, an Inglenook Fireplace that once held an Aga Oven and Old exposed Brickwork. We stock Four Good local Trad Beers including Wem Brewery & Hobsons, I am Cask Marque accredited and an avid supporter of local Micro Breweries using many in the Shropshire, Cheshire and Staffordshire area, they complement our Food which we cook to order using Fresh Local Produce whenever possible. Friday is Live Music Night with artist starting at 9.30pm after Food service.

EXCELLANT FOOD LOVELY PLACE WILL GO AGAIN
  10 / 10
Took Grandparents last friday for lunch. Outside was beautiful old contry pub setting with a large carpark to rear, inside the pub spoke of charactor and charm with a warm friendly feel about it.
The staff were very friendly and patiant with us one even read the meau three times for my grandmother who is not very well sighted anymore they realy could not have done more to make us welcome.
After being given the vast menu of which I could have tried almost everything (unusual for me being fussy)me and my grandparents had the steak & stilton pie option. It was brought to us on plates with colcannan piped potatoes and a side dish of veg with a cute little pot of homemade gravy. The food was perfectly cooked and the freshness of it shouted at you from the plates. EXCELLANT! I feel that I must write about the pie: the pie sauce was perfect with a hint of stilton which was not overpowering, beautifully cooked meat and light homemade pastry, it was superb! The desserts were just as good.
The whole experience was one of a top market gastro pub.
The people of the beautiful town of Wem are so lucky to have the Tilley Raven on their doorstep. My wife and I live 45 miles away and if we had this pub close to us we would never be out of it.
Please keep up the good work so that next time we visit we get the same experience again.

Horrid place!

Well, how can one venue get such varying reviews? Have to say, all the negative comments exactly replicated our experience of this place. Definitely would not return. I think they get their regulars to keep writing reports for them???

Fabulous meal and excellent service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10 / 10
A large party of us went to the Raven last night, March 6th and had a fabulous evening. There were seven different main courses ordered amongst us as well as varied starters and desserts and every one of them was spot on. All the staff were very attentive and pleasant and we all said that we couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable evening. Many thanks to all at The Tilley Raven, and a quick message to the derogatory comment writer from January 29th. We were there then too, and were just as happy with things that night. Maybe you need to just go elsewhere!

excellent service and meal
  10 / 10
Four of us went on 30th jan the same as last posted comments and had a perfect evening. Meal was great and so was the service as far as the comment about tractors and potholes please get a life this is not a swanky city over the top restaurant its a good country pub. went again tonight (6th march) as good as ever great food and service at a fair price. The place was full so great to think the petty negative comments have not worked. Keep up the good work Raven.
