Visit for a really friendly welcome
  9 / 10
The Rose & Crown have apparently only reopened recently under new management. We were given a very friendly welcome. The food was most delicious although the menu at the moment is limited to mainly bar food. There is a good range of drinks, including McMullens draft beers AV(?), County and IPA. Very refreshing! There is a large garden for fine weather which includes a play area for the children.

Don't Bother

Worst dining experience I have ever had. Ordered liver and bacon with tomatoes, cottage pie, steak pie all with vegetables. Food was absolutely tasteless, except for the coating on the liver which tasted like charcoal, the mash was watery, the vegetables were all dried up Carrots/Brocolli the cauliflower was OK. The cottage pie consisted of a bowl of watery mince and a PIE CRUST!!!! on top and a dollop of the watery mash on the side of the plate. We were the only people in there (yes we should have known better) we waited 40 minutes for the food to arrive and was told that it was all cooked from fresh so would be lovely when it arrived!!! The tables were already set up, the wine glasses were all water stained and one of them still had lipstick on one side of it - not a little bit but the whole of one side was coated with it. The table mats were absolutely filthy and sticky with drink stains on them. This has been taken over by new management and if this is the type of cooking and cleanliness I guarantee they wont be there long. Avoid at all costs.
