Real Food and Beer!
  9 / 10
Please read and think about the previous review on this site! The service could be improved but this does not warrant the dreadful comments made! I have visited the pub for a sunday roast, midweek dinners, party nights and found the pub delightful. It is rare to find a pub/restaurant where real food and beer is served. Daily specials that are changed on a daily basis with rare specials such as Lobster (for a non-fish special pub) and game specials. The roast was an adequate size and left just enough room for a dessert! And the beef was good, (thin cuts of sirloin can't be cooked in the medium or med/rare, med/well, which many of you would know!). If you want cheap boil in a bag rubbish, please find the local Toby Inn where there is a carvery served every day, hmmm Lovely, i dont think! The Farmer's also offered a good drink selection with local beers, guest ales and a large wine selection with some 'Premier' wines! Overall a nice, warm, friendly pub with a good atmosphere!

The Farmers Boys, Brickendon, review
  5 / 10
After having visited this pub twice previously, and were impressed with the service & food, we ventured back with a few more family members one Sunday recently. We were very disappointed in the service - young girls who really were not on the ball, and being told no more veg was allowed whatsover ! The mains came out minutes after each other, more veg was asked for given the amount wasn't enough to cover 4 people let alone the 8 present. The total came to enough to warrant a few additional spuds and the like ! It was obviously a busy time, but it was such a contract to the 2 previous times, we really have been put off, which is a shame. To find a decent country pub with home cooked food is rare, and we thought we had found one, until this experience. The food overall was fine, not as good as the other visits, the beef could only be rare or well done, for example, which isn't the greatest choice especially if opting for middle ground. Adult waitors/waitresses please who understand the needs of customers, and a little more open to plumping up the volume on our plates !
