Best Sunday Lunch I've had in ages!
  10 / 10
On the outskirts of Haverfordwest, on the corner of portfield and the Dale road is a rather unassuming pub. The Belle Vue is one of those places that most know of, but few go in to sample what it has to offer. And boy, does this pub have much to offer!

We booked to eat at the "all day Sunday lunch" and was pleasantly suprised by the amount of parking available to the rear of the pub. Walking through the door gave us another suprise with modern and clean fixtures and fittings. But more importantly, a friendly smile and welcome from behind the bar.

Having introduced ourselves, we took our seat, unrushed and unhurried by the waiting staff. After being presented with the menu, we were given time to peruse and make our choice in comfort. Having decided on the traditional roast beef and Roast Pembrokeshire turkey, we were served our drinks.

It was a pretty busy Sunday there with 2 other large groups and 3 couples. But the service was spot on from the start, courteous, attentive, but without being overbearing.

The starter was served hot, promptly and without fuss. I was intrigued by the combination of Cheese and dill - but it WORKED brilliantly, so much so, I would order it again. Care was taken over the side salad, and it felt as if we were "special" (NOTE: at this stage, they weren't aware that we were reviwing the meal)

The meal itself was SUPERB! The meats presented with none of the boring boiled vegetables that are the usual fayre at "traditional pub lunches" but potatoe dauphinoise! Cabbage with cream and some herb or spice that really brought out the flavour. and carrots coated in proper butter... Well done!

The only critism, if any that could be made, is the serving staff, whilst superbly efficient, courteous, & pleasant, could have done with smiling a little more! It didnt distract from the service or meal, but I do like to see more smiling faces.

Overall, The Bellevue is now a mainstay on our "sunday lunch" list and will be for a long time. Thoroughly enjoyed the food, company and service - WELL DONE.

My comment was premature, as we were let down when entertaining friends.

Surprise
  8 / 10
I live nearby and wished to entertain visitors. The pub nearest was inexplicably closed so we went to the Bellvue. The last time we visited there was a couple of years ago, so I did not know what to expect. Hey ho! There had been a change of owners and the difference was palpable. The welcome was sincere, the service was friendly and efficient and the food excellent.
This will be my first choice the next time we eat out.
