The first time we called we'd booked ahead, for a sunday meal. Although there weren't that many there we had to wait for what seemed like an age before eating the function room was freezing (uncomfortably cold), when we did go up to the carvery and had the food I can't say that there was anything good about it. The veg was bland, the meat was dried out as if cooked several times... not recommended
Second time - benefit of the doubt called and ate at the restaurant area expecting something more, again by the time we were served we were ready to go for waiting for it. For what we had - overpriced
Also friends of ours (customers that have been for several years) recently have turned away from the establishment. Having turned up one evening and being turned away for not having phoned to book!! The restaurant was practically empty and far from busy.
We won't be visiting again anytime soon
We prefer the atmosphere and the food to that of the Polyn, so do the children, which we feel has become very pretentious and overpriced.
We live locally and it has been difficult finding an eating place to suit all palettes and pockets. The freshness of the food, the quality and service are excellent. The Halfway Inn does it for us. We hope that you will try it too.
