The Red Lion

I'm not the type of person that writes on these reviews type things, but take my word, pull over to this lovely welcome pub.
It has a spacious car park, cracking pint and the food is to die for. And there is a brilliant atmosphere.
A lovely counrty pub which i will definitely return too.

We eat here regularly as the menu is extensive; the quality of the food is excellent and the value for money is second to none. We always get a warm welcome. This is obviously a view shared by many as the place is often booked up. They also respond well to events e.g. they had a royal wedding celebration including buffet and sparkling wine where customers turned up dressed as wedding guests to watch the Royal Wedding. On other occasions they have provided a huge breakfast for those who wanted to watch the early morning rugby games. The menu includes a good selection for vegetarians. The staff are friendly and happy and the service is responsive.

Have been there a few times, opens at 5 on weekdays and is always open on time when I pass. Staff are very good and very helpful. Homely atmoshphere with open log fire and plenty of locals. Food and beer is great + reasonably priced. Last went on a Tues night which was curry night.

As a frequent visitor to the Red Lion I am astonished at the comments made. The pub is an old Inn that is steeped in history and character. The pub itself and all the staff that we have met have always been nothing but very welcoming. Nothing better than on a cold evening to walk into a pub with a real fire blazing and a great atmosphere. The pub, restaurants and toliets are always immaculately clean. The menu is very extensive and the food of exceptional quality and quantity at very reasonable prices. I have and will still recommend this pub as one of the best places to go within the area. These findings were also re iterated in the Carmathen Journal when their mystery diners attended and wrote their review.

Never seems to open on time. Landlady quite happy for us to sit in the Carpark in the rain until 15 minutes after opening time. When we knocked at the door, and found out she would not be opening for 15 minutes, we said as would go elsewhere. Her response was.... thats fine... she then slammed the door. I have been there 3 times when the place should have been open and it wasn't

Personally, I'd never go here again. On the occasion I have been successful in getting in, it is damp and cold, though the food was good.

Try the Red Lion at Llandybie instead. It's faultless!
