Overpriced, overcooked pap
A large party of friends and family went to this place yesterday to celebrate my brothers 40th birthday. I will list what wasn't right
No greeting to acknowledge the party
Had to find our own way in to the room allocated to the party
A dog walking about round diners
Not enough seating allocated, put some of us up on a decorating table
All starters and main courses came out a different times
My starter was burnt, would not replace it
My main course of ravioli was over cooked, more sauce than ravioli and very salty
The veg came out after I had eaten and none was put on our decorating table, we had to walk accross the room for it, and pick up very warm dishes.
Overall overpriced, overcooked pap. It grated on me that I had to pay for something I could have cooked better myself. I would not advise anybody to eat there.

Need new staff
  4 / 10
Me and my husband booked a meal at Elliotts for a special occasion so were really looking forward to the night. Upon arrival we entered the bar area, me and my husband stood feeling awkward looking around for staff to help. I noticed a female member of staff sat chatting with a group of people an arms length from us but she made no aknowledgment that we existed. When the male bar member finally arrived he was very helpful.
The food was very tasty the only gripe being the chicken breast was dry and hard on one corner which I had to cut off.
It is such a shame that the staff have put me off going again. My advice, Send all the staff on a customer service course, or get new staff as they either hate their job or cannot be bothered or they all have a no smiling pact. I didn't see the same waiter/waitress for each course I think the same member of staff should stay with you throughout the whole experience.

A joke of a restaurant
  1 / 10
Celebrating my 21st Birthday we decided to try Elliots Kitchen. Arriving at the Hotel with my mum and my partner we approached the bar, ordered our drinks and let the barmaid know we had booked a table and we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. The acknowledgement we received was"OK" we weren't advised of any waiting area or even that someone would let us know when our table was ready, we were just left standing about so we found a less crowded area of the bar to wait for everyone else to arrive. Upon their arrival they each ordered their drinks from the bar and was served by a male barman with an appalling attitude that never so much as cracked a smile. Eventually we were lead through to our table that was back to back with another table of customers leaving very little room for customers and waiters to move around the room. We were seated and handed the menus. The value at this time appeared very well, offering three courses for about £20 I think it was. When we had decided what we were having the waiter came over to take our order. The ten of us took turns ordering our starters and mains. When placing our orders almost everyone had to change either their starter or their main as it appeared that they only had half of the dishes on the menu available, not what you expect from somewhere with their reputation. My brother in law, aunty and cousin all chose braised venison as their main meal choice which appeared to be the only thing they had plenty of. While we were waiting for our food to be served the landlady came over and greeted us and ask the occasion we were celebrating, learning it was a 21st birthday she disappeared for five minutes or so and then returned with a complementary bottle of champaign which was very nice and brightened up the earlier issue with the menu. Our starters arrived they were all huge portions and very nice, following this the plates were cleared away and we awaited the main course. Ten meals were fetched to the table eight of which were correct, the last three meals that were served were; one braised venison and two braised steak. No one had even so much as mentioned braised steak at the time of ordering and it soon became apparent that they were there instead of the other two braised venison that had been ordered. We thought that it had just been a mix up initially and that it would be rectified... We couldn't have been more wrong. When we made the waiters aware that the had fetched us the wrong order they attempted to suggest that the orders were not wrong and this is what we had ordered. At this point the landlady came over to see what the mix up was and casually asked if the two people without a meal would like to order one while the other eight of us were starting our mains, this offer was declined as their food would need preparing and cooking and therefore would not be served until everyone else had finished their meals. The waiter was also still adamant that they had ordered the braised steak, what we believe had actually happened is that the waiter had believed at the time of us placing our orders that he did have more braised venison however when putting the order in at the kitchen realised that he didn't and therefore just put them down for the braised steak instead. The landlady just put it down to lack of communication and made very little effort to resolve this matter other than inviting us to the disco that was taking part later on that evening. No compensation of any sort was offered and the price of the main meal was just deducted from the bill leaving the two hungry members of our party still to pay for the starter.
It was clear to see that the were understaffed while we were their as the bar men were running back and fourth from the kitchen to the beer pumps and running around with terrible attitudes.
I will never again go to this restaurant as the service we received was appalling.

Excellent food and price
  10 / 10
It's not very often that a restaurant can provide excellent service and food and generous, well cooked portions. We went a few weeks ago, after watching The Hotel Inspector (whose only slightly negative findings were that the portions were too large). She found that the rooms were clean and tidy and that the food itself was faultless.
I can concur with this finding. The food was value for money and well cooked. I have been to numerous restaurants in Rotherham and find that they cut corners, give you the least amount of food, and use school kids to serve you, so that they spend even less. It was lovely, lovely, lovely.
