Poor service, avoid.
I have only one word to describe the dining experience at this restaurant - appalling. A group of a dozen of us recently gathered here for a birthday celebration on a Saturday night. The first inkling of a problem was when we were told that our preferred sitting time of 7.30pm had to be 7pm instead. Ok, fair enough we thought, 7pm it is then - perhaps they want us in early as we were a larger group. We arrived at the alotted time to see a virtually empty dining room, "great" we thought, we'll get nice and quick service. How wrong we were.
After ordering drinks, we were served the usual poppadoms to start, and then we waited to order our meal. And we waited. And waited. And waited some more. We kept asking to order and were told "in a minute, in a minute" by the 'waiters'. The only thing to pass the time was to watch other diners who had arrived after us who had already had their orders taken and were happily tucking into their meals.
After about an hour waiting, we were finally asked for our order. And then of course we waited again. And waited. And waited some more. In the meantime there was a steady stream of takeaway orders being collected and deliveries going out, so it became obvious where the kitchen's priorities were.
Our meal was finally served over two and a half hours after we had arrived. I couldn't tell you what the food tasted like, as after the long wait I was full of Cobra and had lost my appetite. What I can tell you is that it was not good value for money - £20 for a cheap, supermarket style white wine, and a bill that ended up being about £35 a head.
This 'restaurant' has more similarity to a glorified take away than a quality dining experience. If you decide to dine here I would recommend that you eat a good sized meal beforehand and bring a good book to pass the time, as you'll be waiting a long time for the so called 'service'. If you want a decent meal in the Spencer's Wood area, you'd be better off going to the local kebab van in Shinfield.
