The Richmond

After a bad experience at eating at a sister pub the Imperial we visited the Richmond and the staff could not have been more helpful. We had our voucher accepted here with no problem and the food was excellent, no complaints whatsoever and service was cheerful and professional and a pleasure to eat here. Please visit this for a meal as the food is reasonably priced and the premises is tastefully designed for comfort and relaxation. Mrs Hesketh Southport

Recently visited twice, and was very pleased both times!

1st visit was on a Monday night, my partner and I were looking for somewhere to eat after work and chanced upon The Richmond at around 7:30pm. Expecting the usual Pub Grub, I was plesantly surprised. They offer an ALL WEEK meal deal. No 7pm cut off, no weekend cut off either. This is a starter, drink and main for about £11 or a 3 course and drink deal for about £13.

I had the Garlic Mushroom which were so delicious and the Steak for main. I sampled a locally brewed lager with my meal which was really nice and my partner went for the house red. For dessert I tucked into an amazing Bread and Butter pudding - it was superb!

Being that impressed, we enquired about getting down for mothers day on the sunday, about 12 of us in total. This was not a problem and we were booked in with ease. On arrival we waited about 5 mins to be seated. Everyon took on the Meal Deal except for a couple who went for the full menu. Great time had by all, witht he weather being quite good, we finished up on the terrace at the front.

Willd definitely call again

Having just had Sunday lunch at the Richmond I would never visit again. We placed our order and did not receive our order for 50 minutes. It arrived cold and looking so unappetising. The chicken and bacon salad was just that, a lump of chicken and a rasher of bacon (both freezing cold) set on a basic salad. No dressing. One of our party ordered chicken pie which was cold and didnt even resemble a pie, it was a piece of soggy pastry covered in a massive amount of 'mashed' potato with a piece of leathery chicken thrown on top. The other three in our party had similar meals. The starters were fine. But to add insult to injury while we were waiting a group of 10 year old footballers came charging in complete with muddy boots, their parents placed them at a table near us while they sat elsewhere and brought them the occasional bag of crisps and drinks while they got rowdier and rowdier. This went on for the whole two hours we were there. When they left there was mud on the seats and spilt drinks everywhere. Not the most inspiring Sunday lunch We've ever had suffice to say I shall never visit again. Pity really because in the past I have had quite a pleasant meal there. But never on a Sunday.
