Comment for The Plough, Surrey
A bit spit and sawdust but very nice. No music or television
  8 / 10
The Plough in Byfleet is an old traditional pub serving a good choice of cask ales which do tend to be a little overpriced compared to similar establishments. It is a bit spit and sawdust especially the part to the left as you enter. However it is very friendly pub where you can hold a conversation without being blasted out by television or music. Even the use of mobile phones is banned here.Wonderful!! We really enjoy a drink at the Plough and the bar service is always helpful and friendly. The positive far outweigh the negatives

Comment for The New Inn, Surrey
All good except prices are a tad on the high side.
  7 / 10
The New Inn is a charming pub set on Ham Common that has retained many of its traditional values without the need to have music and sky sports blasting out. They serve a choice of real of 4 cask ales and a reasonable selection of wine. The seating could be a little more comfotable especially if you can only get a stoll rather than a chair. In my opinion the landlord needs to look at this aspect and replace the stools with chairs. The staff are generally intent on giving a good service. The daily specials board for the food gives a good choice and the quality is higher than average. My only critism is the prices for both food and drink which are about 20 per cent higher than other local hostelries. It is generally quite sedate but Friday nights can get rather crowded and noisy.

Comment for Mervyn Smith Estate Agents, Surrey
A friendly local Estate agent with good knowledge of the Area
  8 / 10
Mervyn Smith is an independent local estate agent which has been established since the early 1970's. Consequently they have great knowledge of their area which is basically Ham and North Kingston. Many of the staff have been with the company for a long time and you certainly get a personal service. What is nice you are not pressurised into buying and selling. They give you the facts and if requested their advise but do not push you into decisions. We have both brought and sold properties through Mervyn Smith in the pat 25 years and have been been absolutely satisfied with the service given. Commission rates for selling are negotiable. Free valuations are available and it is usually Stan Shaw who is the main man who comes round and gives you a realistic valuation not a totally inappropriate high one in an attempt to get your business, as was the case with one of their local competitors who we did not use. They have a good website and the shop frontage gives a good display of the properties available. They also distribute a great informative leaflet early each year giving details of how properties prices have fluctuated in the area for the past year .We always look forward to receiving this information as we find it very useful.

Comment for The Anchor, Surrey
A canal side pub serving good food
  8 / 10
The Anchor is in a picturesque location right besides the canal. In the warm weather there is lots of outside seating so you can watch as the canal boats enter and leave Pyrford Lock.the food is a good quality although the choice is limited. Prices are reasonable. If eating inside table service or outside you need to order at the bar and give your table number. They serve a good pint of Tanglefoot and Badger Real ale. It can get crowded at peaks so you may have to wait.

Comment for Park Tavern, Surrey
The Dregs
  1 / 10
The Park Tavern is well past its sell by date. Really grotty and drinks prices a lot higher than average. No food.We went here about 5 years ago and it had a nice atmosphere and was reasonably crowded, this time the opposite applied. A couple of nice real ales but really expensive
