I took my family to this pub when staying at the near Caravan Park as it looked a safe bet and a typical English Country pub.

How wrong can you get??

As it was a Saturday night, we pre-booked when driving past earlier in the afternoon. On our return at the allotted 7:30pm booking, we were confronted with a near empty pub which, as the pub seemed the only one for miles around in a busy area, didn't bode well for our future meal. Oh well, perhaps people are staying away as the weather wasn't too clever?

We settled down to our table and went to order drinks at the bar. I ordered drinks and asked the bar man to add the cost to out table bill. I was surprised to then be asked for my credit card for safekeeping! Did they think we were going to 'do a runner'?

The menu seemed comprehensive enough and we ordered our meals with the waitress and settled down to wait for the arrival.

Around 15-20 minutes later our food arrived and I could see that I was going to be disappointed as soon as it landed in front if me. My parter and I both ordered Plaice and Scampi respectively with the two meals for our daughter and niece both being chicken and ribs combo. Well, where do I start?? The fish was deep fried and very poor quality, the chicken was the frozen fillet type you can buy a bag full of at Iceland for £3 and the chips were frozen and horrendous. On top of that, the vegetables served with the £12 combo were soggy and seemed to have come out of a storage jar.

Bitterly disappointed, we ate what we could and cast our eye over the 'home made' desert board.

It can't be any worse than the main course we thought??.... Well we didn't have the chance to find out as what we wanted to order wasn't available!

A sharp exit ensued after we paid the £60 bill - and that's got 2 rounds of drinks without a tip!!!
