Hidden down a laneway on the edge of the village green in Ayot Green is The Waggoners, a romantic and cosy local pub with an excellent French restaurant. Formerly a 17th century coaching inn, The Waggoners has a welcoming, down-to-earth vibe and its deep red walls, large beer garden and friendly service have made it the favourite haunt of local bon vivants, couples and Francophilic foodies. The French fusion menu is filled with old favourites, and we highly recommend the beef carpaccio with olive oil and capers; the roasted pork fillet served with apples and a cider glaze; and the duck cooked two ways with thyme jus and a caramelised pear.
