Well, well, well.........If it isnt the world famous Stolkers...Well not quite...this business is called Stollers and doesnt feature Mr Stolker in any way, shape or form...But I will pretend it is for Gavin. Stolkers was a half video game/half bed shop on fuckin forshaw street. I used to love buying games from here for my fucking spectrum 128k. I remember one called Brian Bloodaxe (approx 5.99), which was very loosely based on the Monty Python classic Life of Brian...Y'know, the one where he gets his cock out in the window.."hes not the messiah, hes a very naughty boy" and all that shite. I say loosely based, due to the title being wrote in the same font as the film and bearing the Monty Python trademark. It had the music from The Great Escape (which I found confusing?) Anyway...You were basically a small, stubby viking type character who had to cross many a 2D level of absurd obstacles (kinda like Jet Set Willy) to try and reach the end of an almost endless game. Of course, the graphics were DOS based, but the gameplay was so addictive that I would play it for hours on end whilst drinking a can of sass (which came free with the game, courtesy of Mr Stolker himself). Anyway, I remeber being stuck on a level where you had to run under a large boot and open a gate before the boot cam slamming down and crushing you...This was almost impossible and had to be achieved in split second timing...The thing that really got on my tit-ends was that it took at least 10 mins to reach there from the last save-point (which in them days was a fucking code you had to write down)...Anyway I didn't realise that to do this, you had to find a good vantage-point and fire a catapult at the pane of glass on the 1st level of a building. Then a geeky guy pops up and trys to make out you fired an air-rifle from a nearby car-park level...This is completely untrue and I have no idea why this would feature in the game??? I did however complete this game after a few months of frustration and swapped it for Rygar...That was also a 2D game which featured a character that resembled Ryu (from Street Fighter) who had a large spinning saw-blade attatched to the end of a wire and used it to slice and dice all types of mythical beasts in this action-packed classic....But thats another story...One best kept for a boat-trip. I wonder if Gav had a spectrum...Hmm?
